About James & Alex

Our Story

We are the first team in the North American Olympic qualifier to launch a fully structured Mixed 470 campaign, giving us a strategic head start on the road to 2028. This early momentum allows us to invest more time in high-performance training, world-class coaching, and proven equipment partnerships. Powered by a diversified funding strategy that includes corporate partnerships, grants, youth development initiatives, and personal investment, our pathway is ambitious, credible, and capable.

James Fair

Growing up in Kingston, Canada, my dad, a world sailing champion had me on the water as early as I can remember. At 8 years old I competed in my first Canadian championship and fell in love with the challenge of competition. Now, at 21 Years old, A member of the 2023/2024 Canadian Sailing Youth Squad, I’ve represented Canada at 5 World Championships. I am so appreciative of the lessons learned along the way. I firmly believe that time on water defines the greatest sailors of all time, and I like to make every minute count.

Alex McDonald

Beginning sailing at nine years old, I have spent my life on the water between Melbourne and Canada. I grew up racing dinghies, but competitive rowing became my main sport through high school and university, giving me a strong athletic base. Coaching and casual racing kept me connected to the sport. After moving to Canada in 2024 and getting a taste for the 470 at the North Americans, I’m excited to bring my athletic background and love for the water to a new competitive challenge.
